Monika Eva Hauck (aka monautomaton) is a Canadian-Polish interdisciplinary artist and creative producer based in Helsinki, Finland. Working across installation, photography, video, printmaking, sculpture, live audiovisual performance, and participatory programming, her practice investigates media ecologies, environmental change, memory, and the shifting relationship between physical and digital experience. Through process-driven experimentation, layering, and collaboration, she creates immersive works that explore how images, technologies, and environments shape perception and collective understanding.
Alongside her artistic practice, Hauck develops platforms that foster interdisciplinary exchange and creative community. She is the founder of Pulse Index, an artist-led platform for audiovisual culture in Helsinki that brings together live events, workshops, and experimental programming, and is co-founder of the audiovisual project Static Channel, where she performs live visuals alongside synthesizer-based soundscapes.
Hauck holds a BA in Studio Art from the University of Guelph and an MA in New Media from Aalto University. Her work has been exhibited and performed internationally at venues and festivals including the Art Gallery of Ontario, Aavistus A/V Festival, Kazoo! Festival, and the Tampere Film Festival VJ Contest, where she was a finalist in 2023.
