BIO

Monika Eva Hauck (aka monautomaton) is a Canadian/Polish VJ and multidisciplinary artist based in Helsinki, Finland. Her practice spans live visuals for performances, festivals, and events, as well as interactive installations and exhibitions. Hauck crafts surreal digital landscapes that merge immersive abstraction and improvisation.
She has collaborated with a range of nationally and internationally recognized artists, including Canadian heavies like Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Deerhoof, US Girls, Julie Doiron, Partner, Witch Prophet and The Sorority. Her live visuals have animated stages and walls for Art Gallery of Ontario, Kazoo! Festival, Wavelength Music Festival, Hillside Festival, Flourish Festival, Electric Eclectics, Up Here and numerous other DIY and underground events.
Currently completing her MA in New Media Design and Production at Aalto University in Helsinki, Monika is also the former Chair of the Digital Art and Design Association (DADA, 2022) and Vice-Chair of TOKYO Ry, the Aalto Arts Student Association (2023). She was a finalist in the 2023 Tampere Film Festival VJ Contest, has performed at Aavistus A/V Festival, and frequently collaborates with Helsinki-based DJ Collevtive Entropy Ry.
Her wider practice extends to painting, drawing, sculpture and photography, in which her process based practice informs her approach to installation and performance installations. Hauck holds a BA in Studio Art from the University of Guelph and is a co-founder of the A/V project Static Channel, where she does live visuals and performs synth.
